Abstract. The IIVI wideband compounds zinc sulfide, cadmium sulfide and Cd[sub x]ZN[sub 1[minus]x]S ternary alloys has been of considerable technological interest due to their semiconducting, optical and mechanical properties and are of considerable importance as photoconductors, phosphors, infrared and solarcell window materials and materials for shortwavelength optoelectronic applications.
